📊 How to Use This Statistics Calculator

  1. 1.Type or paste your numbers. Commas, spaces, tabs or new lines all work as separators — mix them freely.
  2. 2.Results update as you type. Count, sum, mean, median and mode appear instantly, with no button to press.
  3. 3.Pick the right standard deviation. Population SD (÷N) for a complete data set; sample SD (÷N−1) when your numbers are a sample of something bigger.
  4. 4.Decimals and negatives are fine. Temperatures, profits and losses, test scores — any real numbers work.
  5. 5.Non-numbers are ignored. Stray letters or empty gaps in pasted data are skipped, not counted as zero.

❓ FAQ

What is the difference between population and sample standard deviation?

Population SD divides by N and describes a complete set of data. Sample SD divides by N − 1 and estimates the spread when your numbers are only a sample of a bigger set. This calculator shows both, so you can pick the one your class or report needs.

How is the median different from the mean?

The mean is the average — add everything, divide by the count. The median is the middle value when the numbers are sorted, so one very large value cannot drag it around the way it can drag the mean.

What if there are two modes?

If two or more values tie for most frequent, all of them are listed as modes. If every value appears only once, there is no mode and the calculator says so.

How do I enter my numbers?

Type or paste them separated by commas, spaces or new lines — mixed separators work too. Decimals and negative numbers are fine. Results update as you type.
