🗜️ How to Use This Image Compressor

  1. 1.Drop in a photo. Drag any image onto the box, or tap it to browse your phone or computer.
  2. 2.Move the quality slider. It starts at 70% — a good balance. The compressed size and preview update live, so stop where it still looks sharp.
  3. 3.Cap the width for huge photos. A 4000 px phone photo dropped to 1920 px or 1280 px can shrink by 80% or more on top of the quality savings.
  4. 4.Pick JPG or WebP. JPG opens everywhere; WebP is usually even smaller and is ideal for websites.
  5. 5.Check the savings, then download. The panel shows before-and-after sizes and the exact percent saved.

❓ FAQ

Does my photo get uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — your file never leaves your device, is never uploaded, saved or tracked. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

What quality setting should I use?

70% is a good all-round setting — most photos look nearly identical but weigh far less. Use 80–85% for photos you will print or view full-screen, and 50–60% for thumbnails, listings and email attachments where small size matters most.

Will compressing make my photo blurry?

Lower quality removes fine detail, so extreme settings can look soft, especially in skies and shadows. The preview updates live as you move the slider, so you can find the smallest size that still looks good before you download.

Is this image compressor free?

Yes — 100% free, no sign-up, no watermarks and no file limits. Compress as many images as you like, one at a time.
