🕐 How to Use This Hours Calculator

  1. 1.Enter clock-in and clock-out. Type the times exactly as they appear on your time card or schedule — the calculator handles AM/PM and 24-hour entry.
  2. 2.Subtract your unpaid lunch. Enter break minutes that are not paid (30 is common). Paid breaks should be left at 0 — only unpaid time comes off.
  3. 3.Read your hours two ways. Decimal hours (8.00) are what payroll uses; the h:mm form (8:00) is what most people expect to see. Both are shown.
  4. 4.Set days per week and your rate. Weekly hours and gross weekly pay update with the daily figure, so a schedule change shows its true weekly effect at once.
  5. 5.Night shifts included. Clock out earlier than you clocked in and the shift is counted across midnight automatically.

❓ FAQ

How do I calculate the hours I worked?

Take the span from clock-in to clock-out and subtract any unpaid break. Clocking in at 9:00 AM and out at 5:30 PM is an 8.5-hour span; subtract a 30-minute unpaid lunch and the paid time is exactly 8 hours. This calculator does both steps and shows the result as a decimal (8.00) and in hours:minutes form (8:00).

How is weekly pay calculated?

Multiply hours per day by days worked per week to get weekly hours, then multiply by the hourly rate. Eight hours a day, five days a week at $20 per hour is 8 × 5 = 40 hours, and 40 × $20 = $800 for the week. That is gross pay before taxes and any overtime premium.

What if I work an overnight shift?

If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, the calculator treats clock-out as the next day. A shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM with a 30-minute lunch counts as 8 paid hours, the same as the identical day shift — no special setting is needed.
