What you save and what you pay — or the original price behind a sale tag.

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 — that is your saving. Subtract it from the original price to get what you pay. For example, 25% off $80 saves $80 × 25 ÷ 100 = $20, so you pay $60.
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). If you paid $60 after 25% off, the original price was $60 ÷ 0.75 = $80. Switch this calculator to the second mode and it does the maths for you.
Apply them one at a time, never added together: 20% off $100 leaves $80, then 10% off $80 leaves $72 — a total saving of 28%, not 30%. Percentages act on what is left, so stacked discounts always save less than their sum.
