Multiply the length by the width. A room that is 12 ft long and 10 ft wide has an area of 12 × 10 = 120 square feet. The same formula works for any four-sided space with right-angle corners.
Use the formula π × r² — pi (about 3.1416) times the radius squared. A circle with a radius of 5 ft has an area of 3.1416 × 25 = 78.54 square feet. The radius is half the diameter, so measure across the circle and divide by two first.
Multiply square feet by 0.0929 (or divide by 10.764). For example, 120 square feet equals about 11.15 square meters. This calculator shows square feet, square meters and square yards side by side so you never have to convert by hand.
